Below is a video of a radiation damage cascade as simulated with molecular dynamics. A brief summary:

  • 440,000 carbon atoms in a box 157 Å x 153 Å x 153 Å.
  • Simulation at 300K for 3 ps.
  • Incident energy of 2.5 keV.
  • Uses an in house MD code incorporating EDIP
  • Videos below are produced with the visualisation software AVAS.
